Coventry is a fantastic place to live with lots to see and do, here are some things that you might now know about Coventry – In the 19th Century Coventry was well known due to the author George Eliot, the city was modelled on the novel Middiemarch. Back in 1958 the Belgrade Theatre was opened and was Britains first purpose built civil theatre, another interesting fact is that Alan Pollock the playwright was brought up in Coventry along with novelist Graham Joyce, he wrote the famous novel ‘The Facts Of Life’. 

Musically Coventry is famous for the Two Tone movement in the 80s wit bands like The Specials and The Selecter with hits Too Much To Young and Ghost Town. The Italian Job was filmed in Coventry’s sewers, other films and TV shows filmed here include All In The Game starring Ray Winstone and The BBCsitcom Keeping Up Appearances, some of the Doctor Who eposidoes were filmed in the grounds of fords hospital.
