What Our Clients Say

Learning The Local Driving Test Routes & Taking A Mock Driving Test

Mock driving tests allow you to see what standards are needed for the driving test so you are not going in entirely blind. It is also beneficial for your driving instructor to see if you are test prepared, if you fail the mock driving test, your instructor can work on the areas where you failed. We will also teach you all of the local driving test routes when taking your practical driving test in Coventry, rest assured you will be very familiar with the test routes before taking your driving test with Bennetts.

What’s the difference between taking driving lessons in an automatic or manual car?

Manual vehicles have a clutch, brake and accelerator. You change gears yourself utilizing the clutch pedal and gear lever. Automatic cars have a brake and accelerator only, no clutch. The car does the gears for you, this makes learning to drive simpler and typically implies you will reach test requirements with less driving lessons.

Because of the easier driving design required for automatic cars many new motorists feel that automatic driving lessons are much easier while other new drivers take pleasure in the difficulty and experience of driving a manual vehicle.

If you are in a rush to get your driving licence because of schooling, work or other factors, you might wish to consider focusing on passing your driving test in an automatic vehicle, as a lot of drivers discover that they require less lessons and pass their test quickly. You can return at a later date and take lessons in a manual vehicle and then test once again for your manual driving licence.

Gear changes

In an automatic car gears are changed instantly. As the speed increases the car will instantly go up a gear and as the car speed decreases the gears will instantly alter to a suitable lower gear. You do not have to master the coordination of the clutch, gear lever and accelerator. This makes learning to drive an automatic car simpler than a manual.

Frequently Asked Questions by Learner Drivers

All you need is your provisional licence which you can apply for when you are 15 and 9 months old. We will need to see this on your initial driving lesson and you will need it to book your theory and practical test.

The DVSA state that the national average a learner takes from start to finish is around 67 hours but we are proud to say that our average is 30 hours.

Our instructor will pick you up from the arranged location, introduce himself, he will ask to see your provisional licence and ask you to read a number plate from 20 metres away. He will then drive you to a quiet location if needed, explain how the controls of the car work and will get you driving asap.

We offer both weekly lessons and intensive courses, our weekly lessons take around 6 months depending on waiting times for tests and your progress. If you'd like to pass your test quickly then we are able to offer intensive courses for you.

You are welcome to book online, call us or email and we will guide you every step of the way.
