How to apply for provisional driving license?

Provisional driving license is the first mandatory document which you must possess in order to take your first driving lessons. The request for provisional license can be made when you are 15 years and 9 months old but it is issued only after you turn 17 and 16 in case you want to drive moped or light squad bike.

There are 3 different ways through which you can apply for your provisional driving license-They are online, through post or in person.

How to apply online?

You can make your online application in www.gov.uk. The eligibility criteria for this are:

 Need to be a resident of Great Britain.

 Meet the minimum age requirement.

 Meet the minimum eyesight requirement.

 Possess a valid identity proof like UK passport, etc.

 Address proof for the last 3 years.

How to apply through post?

  Fill the D1 application form at the post office or from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) form ordering service.

 Send the original identification documents, 1 passport sized photograph.

 Post your form to DVSA, Swansea, SA99 1AD.

How to apply in person?

 Make your application in person at a DVSA office.

 Fix a prior appointment.

 Carry the mandatory identification documents and passport sized photograph.
